the gift

i rarely get presents from people. so when i do, i treat them like a treasure and do whatever i can to keep them safe. the thing about presents is they're suppose to mean something, at least that's what i think. someone actually thought of me and went through all the trouble to get something for me. however, is that always the case? i mean, when someone present you with a gift, does it mean that you're special to them? or is it just an act of kindness or thoughtfulness? i prefer if it is the former honestly. i really hope that i have a special place in their heart when they buy me gifts.

but what if the situation is slightly different? for example in a case where you're not the only one who was gifted. i know that i should be thankful to receive one at all, but i can't help but think about it. there are others which received better or more gifts than i did, not to mention i was actually the last person to receive one. i guess the saying "save the best for last" does not apply under this circumstance.

please don't get me wrong. presents always makes me happy. i just wish that the gift was intended for me and not just to get rid of extra baggage. i want it to actually mean something. i believe that there should be a reason for everything but i refuse to appear delusional at the same time. sighs..

in conclusion, i am not special to you, i'm just another friend..
