He, the Copywriter
the word copywriter is a familiar one to me but I've never really known what it really means until that day. i didn't notice it on his profile until a colleague pointed it out. he is a copywriter. i finally did what i should have done a long time ago; right-click and select 'search Google for copywriter'. what i found out was very interesting indeed.
"Copywriting is writing copy (text) for the purpose of advertising or marketing" -Wikipedia
"An advertising creative copywriter/ director should:
- be highly creative and imaginative, and curious about clients' products or services
- be skilled in writing clear, concise and grammatically correct copy
- understand the different language styles that appeal to various target markets
- have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- work well in a team and with a range of creative people
- be able to work under pressure and manage workloads effectively
- be highly self-motivated and well organised
- be able to see other people's points of view and take board feedback
- work within strict budgets
- have an eye for detail
- possess good leadership, people and project management skills"
so that is what he does. everyday, i see him walk pass our office. it never occur to me that he is someone who writes copies for the purpose of advertising or marketing. it peaks my interest even more now to think that he might possess those traits (Especially the highlighted ones). i can only imagine how good he is words, to string out a sentence at an instance or how creative and imaginative he can be to come up with crazy new ideas that will make an impact in an advertisement or a campaign. his attention to detail can be both impressive and irritating too i assume. having said that, i think it is obvious now that we do not know each other; not personally anyway.
he is just another person whom i've crossed paths with and would really like to know. unfortunately, the opportunity hasn't presented itself yet. honestly, i don't think it'll ever happen. however, it gives me something to look forward to when i go to work every day. i am not suggesting that i hate my job or anything like that. this is just something that will make my day a little brighter, a sort of entertainment on gloomy days.
Me, the Copywriter
it wasn't too long after i found out that he is a copywriter when my boss started asking me to compose new year greetings for parents and the company's posts.
"She is our copywriter" says she.
and right after i finish the previous paragraph, i got a call from a cray-cray buddy of mine. we've known each other for more than half of our lives and we love and hate each other. lol. so that's it for my new year's eve/new year post. i wish all of you a blessed year ahead with a lot of exciting adventures. may you hav elots of great stories to tell your grandchildren (or someone else's grandchildren). chao!

raymond much :)
